Repairs underway for Red Zone Sports Bar and Grill after impaired driver crashes into building

The Red Zone Sports Bar and Grill hopes to be open by New Year's Eve weekend.

RANDLEMAN, N.C. — Red Zone Sports Bar and Grill has about $40,000 to $50,000 worth of damage after police said an impaired driver crashed into the building last month, according to bar manager, Laurra Simpson.

On Nov. 16, officers said 27-year-old Peyton Clark got in her car, quickly hit the gas, lost control due to the gravel in the parking lot, and hit the building.

Surveillance video showed that a bartender was nearly hit by the truck.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

Simpson said the crash happened late into a pool tournament as there were 10 people in the bar at the time.

Simpson said Clark was a customer at the bar and didn't appear to be drunk. However, Randleman police said Clark was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Since the crash, employees have begun working on repairs and they hope to reopen by New Year’s weekend.
