ARCHDALE, N.C. — Latest: Search for Archdale shooting suspect continues; stolen truck found in Rowan County
Police are searching for a man they said is armed and dangerous.
The Archdale Police Department said they're looking for Joshua Arquette. They said he shot up a Carolina Container site in Archdale.
Officers said he then walked through a neighborhood in Sophia, holding several guns and knocking on doors.
Multiple Randolph County schools were put on lockdown because of the manhunt.
Two men who watched the suspect walk through their neighborhood Tuesday shared their story.
Neighbors like Wyatt Farlow said he's leaving behind a trail of destruction.
"A guy came knocking on his door and had an AR-15 or an AK-47 over his shoulder and a handgun on each side knocking on the door asking to use the phone," Wyatt said. "I asked my neighbor, where did he go? He said he came from the end of the road toward your house."
Wyatt said when his neighbor called him about a man with a gun wandering through the Sophia neighborhood, he left work and went to check on his home.
"I turned on my driveway, and that truck was coming at me head-on. I thought alright, dude. He went off to the right and into the grass. I looked and said that's the guy! He just stole one of those trucks," Wyatt continued.
Farlow said he came face to face with Arquette.
The man, police said, fired multiple shots inside Carolina Container.
Police said no one was hurt and that Arquette left in a stolen white truck - the same truck Wyatt and his father, Tony Farlow later found in the woods in the Sophia, NC neighborhood.
"We went to investigate the truck to see what's what," Tony said.
"The deputy got here and said, 'Hey, you all get back from that truck. That thing was involved in a shooting," he said. "There is a truck with the front and passenger doors open. It got bullet holes in the windshield, and the windows shot out of it. I said, good God."
WFMY News 2 was there when the truck was towed away.
The Randolph County Sheriff's Office said it was stolen from Davidson County.
Deputies said Arquette then stole a different truck and took off. That stolen Nissan pickup truck turned up in Rowan County later that night.
"Why is he out on the streets again? This is a bad dude," Farlow said.
According to records, Arquette has a criminal history dating back to 2003.
He's been arrested 42 times for crimes like assault on a female and communicating threats.
As police try to track Arquette down, they're urging people to not approach him. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
