CLEMMONS, N.C. — A man and a woman are in custody in Davidson County, accused of taking a teenage girl from her home in Clemmons, NC, over the holidays.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said the investigation began on Saturday, Dec. 23. Deputies responded to a home in Clemmons, where a mother reported her 15-year-old daughter had gone missing.
Detectives said the next day, the teen was found in Ohio with a man and a woman who were out of jail on bond from a previous arrest. According to the report, the two were previously arrested for entering the country illegally.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said it obtained warrants for arrest for Manuel De Jesus Ayala-Mejia and Griselda Guadalupe Arias-Vides for abduction of a child and felonious restraint.
The teen girl was flown home on Wednesday, Dec. 27 with the help of former NASCAR driver and owner of Richard Childress Racing, Richard Childress. Deputies said Childress offered up his plane and pilots to get the girl back home.
As of Jan. 12, the two suspects are in the custody of Davidson County Detention Center awaiting trial.
