Suspect arrested in deadly James Drive shooting in Burlington, police say

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Mebane man connected to a deadly shooting in Burlington turned himself in Monday afternoon, police say.

Burlington police said they identified Tamile Cohn, 24, of Mebane, as the suspect in the shooting on James Drive. 

The Burlington Police Department and the Burlington Regional SWAT team executed a search warrant Friday at the home of Cohn, who was not at the home at the time.

Officers said Cohn was wanted for First Degree Murder and he has since been arrested. 

Burlington police said Davon Darnell Smith, 30, of Burlington, was the man who died in the shooting. Officers said he died at the scene.

The shooting happened on James Drive around 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 10.
