HIGH POINT, N.C. — A juvenile was charged after making a threat of mass violence to school property through social media Wednesday, according to the High Point Police Department.
Officers said around noon, they were told about a threat posted online. After finding the threat not credible, police said they were able to identify a suspect, and a judge approved a secure custody order.
The juvenile was arrested in High Point and charged with communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property.
Police said no additional information about the juvenile suspect will be released.
Officers from the Street Crimes Unit and School Resource Officers Unit worked together on this investigation to evaluate the threat, identify a suspect, and make an arrest. Community members can report threatening messages to the High Point Police Department at 336-883-3224.
