Most recent break-ins at Capra's Deli, Duck Donuts, Goofy Foot Taproom -- are all connected to the Sweet Dough Bake Shop break-in

UPDATE: High Point police said they believe the break-ins are all connected, including the break-in at Sweet Dough Bake Shop.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — UPDATE: High Point police said they believe the break-ins are all connected, including the break-in at Sweet Dough Bake Shop.

Someone broke into three High Point businesses early Monday morning, leaving behind shattered glass at the storefronts.

In a post on Instagram, Goofy Foot Taproom said their business, as well as Duck Donuts, and Capra's Deli were targeted. The taproom shared a photo of a shattered front door. The business said they notified High Point police to investigate.

In the same shopping center, Capra's Deli was also burglarized overnight. The deli shared with us a photo of their storefront also shattered. The deli said the thief stole just a few dollars in coins and some small items.

The owner of Capra's Deli spoke to WFMY News 2. He wanted to warn other local business owners in the area.

"If you have video cameras, it does help, but these guys are quick. It’s smash and go. They’re in in a couple of minutes and they’re out, but it can happen to basically anybody - but the thing is to just get the word out so people know what’s going on out there," Capra said.

Capra also mentioned that he's glad the outcome wasn't worse.

"If we were actually here, it could be a different type of situation, but yeah, being that we've been in business for so long, you know, we know not to leave cash on hand on purpose, it's just one thing you don't do. So that was one of our benefits, so very minimal items taken, you know, very minimal," he said.

Duck Donuts said the suspect shattered their front door and stole their safe.

Police are already investigating a break-in of another business in this same area from earlier this month. High Point police said someone broke into Sweet Dough Bake Shop and stole the cash register. The break-in was caught on surveillance. No arrest has been made in that case.
