Former member charged for making mass threats to Elon church, court docs reveal

Kevin Dillard, 35, was arrested for communicating mass threats to Friendship Baptist Church on Saturday, March 2, deputies say.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A man was arrested for communicating violent threats at a church in Elon on Saturday, March 2, according to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.

According to court documents, former Friendship Baptist Church member Kevin Dillard, 35, called security team member Rickey Wilson on Saturday and requested to be let inside the building while offering money to him and stated that he would "make it like the 4th of July during Sunday Service."

Wilson told Pastor Thomas Cook about the phone call and notified law enforcement.

Deputies arrested Dillard and charged him with communicating a threat of mass violence. He is now out on $5,000 bond.

Dillard previously had three cases dismissed for making threatening phone calls and cyberstalking and also had three cases against him involving mail harassment, where he was found guilty.

Dillard previously worked at Lifestar Emergency Services as an EMT.

This investigation is ongoing.
