Man charged with murder after shooting in Greensboro, police say

Police said a 19-year-old is dead, and a man is in custody.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is facing a murder charge and a 19-year-old is dead after a shooting in Greensboro Saturday.

Greensboro police were in the area of East Lewis Street and South Elm Street when they got a disorder and shooting call around 12:54 a.m. for the 500 block of South Elm Street.

When officers got there, they found Taivaski Kewann Davenport, 19, seriously injured.

Police said Davenport was taken to the hospital, and later died.

Officers have identified the suspect as 33-year-old Andrew Dajuan Jemison.

He was taken into custody.

Police said he was charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators said initial investigation indicates this shooting is not related to any establishment on the block.

It's unclear what led up to the shooting.
