GREENSBORO, N.C. — Most Greensboro City Council members have now seen police body camera footage from an incident involving the city manager. WFMY News 2 spoke to some members of the council who believe this incident does not impact the managers ability to do his job and no action should be taken.

This started back on December 28th. Police records show that's when officers responded to city manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba's home for a family disorder. According to reports, Jaiyeoba and his two adult daughters had minor injuries.

911 calls gave insight into what happened that night. "He's trying to say that I hit him and pushed him and now his arm is broken. He's a very powerful man," the calls stated.

Shortly after the 911 call was released, WFMY News 2 tried to talk with the city manager, his office rejected the request.

On Monday, a judge ruled to release body cam footage to city council only. Since then, some council members reviewed the footage. Including Greensboro Mayor, Nancy Vaughan.

WFMY News 2 asked Mayor Vaughan about the footage during Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. "Ask the Mayor" segment.

"I think the city manager has done a good job, unfortunately families especially around the holidays that sometimes things occur and unfortunately, I think that some people weaponize a domestic violence call," explained Mayor Vaughan.

City councilwoman, Marikay Abuzuaiter also weighed in on the matter.

"If I had seen anything that would make me question his ability to lead our city, and that it was nothing more than a private family matter, I would be one of the first ones jumping up and down, saying 'we need to do something about this,' but it not only doesn't tarnish my feelings for him, I think he's one of the best city managers we've had. Of course, we can say that with each of them," said Councilwoman Abuzuaiter.

Mayor Vaughan said there is no active law enforcement investigation.  The attorney representing the Greensboro Police Officer's Association wants this entire video released to the public.

Next Monday a judge will decide whether the public can see the video or not.
