GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police are investigating two carjackings that happened at Sheetz locations on the same day, an hour apart.
Both robberies happened Wednesday morning.
Police said the first carjacking happened at the New Garden Road Sheetz around 7:40 a.m.
About an hour later, around 8:30 a.m., another carjacking was reported at the Sheetz on West Wendover Avenue.
A 911 caller who reported the Wendover Sheetz carjacking said he saw three suspects.
"Three guys got out at gunpoint and stole a car from [someone] at the gas station," the caller said. "There were three handguns. They put it to the guy's head and he didn't know what was going on."
The victim of the New Garden Sheetz carjacking said he encountered three suspects.
"I started to defend myself against two of them and still swinging at one of them. Then, a second later, a car pulled up right outside my car and a guy jumped out with a gun, pointing it at my face. He told me to back off. So then, I called the cops," he added.
One neighbor who lives in the area says situations like this make her hesitant to go out.
"Well it’s scary. You always think that it happens somewhere else but when it’s right around the corner from you it’s scary, and I’m always getting out to fill up with gas, and leaving keys in the car, because why wouldn’t you, and leave my purse in the car. So somebody could come up, jump in, and drive away," the neighbor said.
No injuries were reported in either incident and it's unclear if they are connected.
