GREENSBORO, N.C. — A carjacking at Sheetz on New Garden Road in Greensboro on Wednesday is getting quite the attention.
Officers said the theft happened around 7:40 a.m.
The 54-year-old victim said he was on the way to work when he stopped by the gas station and left his car running.
"I went to the Sheetz gas station and my car was running. Yeah, my car was running. I was in front, inside the door of the gas station coming out and I saw somebody going into my car. So, I went up to him and said, 'bro, you’re in the wrong car'," he shared.
That's when he said the carjacker refused to get out of his 2014 Hyundai Sante Fe. The victim said when he attempted to pull him out of his car, a fight broke out, and an acquaintance of the suspect started attacking the victim as well.
"I started to defend myself against two of them and still swinging at one of them. Then, a second later, a car pulled up right outside my car and a guy jumped out with a gun, pointing it at my face. He told me to back off. So then, I called the cops," he added.
No injuries were reported, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing.
