Randolph County Sheriff's Office has new substation

The new substation is a partnership between the city of Trinity and the Randolph County Sheriff's Offices to help increase their presence within city limits.

TRINITY, N.C. — The sign is up, and the building of a new Randolph County Sheriff's Office Substation is complete.

"The substation that we are doing here is a partnership with the city of Trinity and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office," said Stevie Cox, City Manager for the City of Trinity

Cox said before that the city was limited in the number of officers on call. Now, there will be more watchful eyes.

"We will have seven full-time Deputy Sheriffs that will be patrolling here, and it will allow us to go from twenty hours of law enforcement coverage to twenty-four seven law enforcement coverage," said Cox.

Along with more officers comes quicker response times.

"So say, for instance, if someone happens at 1 o'clock in the morning, nobody has to worry about as soon someone is going to get to me because they should get someone to their front door 12 minutes or less," said Cox.

The building will include finger printing capabilities and the ability to process certain permits--not just for Trinity but Asheboro residents too. It will also have safe exchange point with security surveillance. Additional services serve with the intention of providing a full-scale of Sheriff’s Office services in the City of Trinity.

"It's more accessible here to do like custody exchanges and e-transactions. That way, they do not have to go all the way to Asheboro. You know that was a problem for Trinity; they had to go all the way to Asheboro," said Tiffany Brown, Corporal with The Randolph County Sheriff's Office.

The new substation is located in Trinity's old city hall. It cost $150,000 thousand dollars to do the renovations. The money was approved by state lawmakers.
