YEMASSEE, S.C. — Three more monkeys are home (and we can only assume, jumping on the bed) while eight are still on the loose after escaping from a South Carolina medical research lab last week.
This brings the grand total of wrangled monkeys to 35, according to the Yemassee Police Department and Alpha Genesis CEO Greg Westergaard.
The monkeys are Rhesus macaque primates, which are widely used for medical and biological research. They escaped from the Alpha Genesis facility on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The lab has set up traps and used thermal imaging to capture the primates.
