THOMASVILLE, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75! So, to celebrate, we’re opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

May 17, 1971, WFMY News 2 viewers got a glimpse of the future.

WFMY News 2 crews went to Thomasville High School, where students learned computers!

A Triad business partnership meant the school could afford the $13,000 data processing equipment.

"We found that business is moving rapidly towards data processing as a bookkeeping process. Therefore, we initiated data processing into our business education here at Thomasville High School,” the principal shared.

Principal Miles said nearby businesses responded well.

He also said the 60 students in the program were looking forward to data-related careers
