MOCKSVILLE, N.C. — A Mocksville church was damaged in an early-morning fire on Tuesday.
Davie County Communications says a fire at United Methodist Church possibly stemmed from a lightning strike. The steeple was torn off the roof and was on the ground. Around 7 a.m., the fire was seen to be extinguished with no hot spots or visible smoke.
The call came in around 3:42 a.m. The Mocksville Fire Department, Smith Grove Fire Department and Cooleemee Fire Department worked to put out the fire.
