Several drivers finding themselves in a tough spot following Tuesday's storm

Those who decided to venture through Tuesday's storm are now in a tough spot.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Those who decided to venture through flooded roadways Tuesday are now in a tough spot.

From water rescues to car problems several people in the Triad are dealing with the aftermath of Tuesday's storm.

The Winston-Salem Fire Department came to the rescue at one specific location Tuesday.

While those who worked Tuesday's shifts are off Wednesday, a battalion chief recalled what happened.

The chief said firefighters saved a person from high waters on Old Town Road and Bethabra Road. During the time, the road was closed due to flooding.

"Our units responded and freed the person from the water and as crazy as that is, that's something that happens periodically here in the city with drivers trying to drive through flooding streets it's a big no, no," exclaimed battalion chief, Joe Ramsey.

Standing water along the roadway also has the power to tear up your car.

Chad Locklear with RAC Towing said he took about a dozen cars to the tow yard Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

"We're looking at like motor damage inside because it floods the car out. This one lady came this morning and got her stuff out, she opened the door, and water just poured out from last night. It was kind of just one after another, after another, as far as rotation and stuff," Locklear recalled.

Locklear said most of the time if a car gets flood damage, it's a total loss. Car owners came to the tow lot Wednesday to grab their belongings and assess the damage.

The forecast is calling for more rain this week, to avoid this problem, don't drive through standing water in the first place.
