Where is Debby now?

The Tropical Storm will move out of the Carolinas early Friday

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Tropical Storm Debby brought horrible wind and rain to the Carolinas Thursday, but will be heading out by early Friday morning. After that, conditions will improve on into the weekend. The WFMY News 2 Weather Team is tracking it for you.

NOW A TROPICAL DEPRESSION IN NC

As of 5pm Thursday, Debby weakened to a tropical depression. This means the winds are much weaker than before and no longer a big issue. It is still a rainstorm that brings occasional very heavy rain through the evening hours.

The storm center was located east of Charlotte and heading into the Triad area at 5pm.

  • Flash flooding is likely in spots, especially those that tend to flood in heavy rain
  • Don't pass through high water on any roads
  • Gusty winds of 30-40 mph will cause some downed trees and power outages
  • There is a low risk of tornadoes, mainly east of Greensboro
