Mandatory evacuation issued in Asheville from Balsam Road to Highway 70

A lake with a dam at Camp Crestridge for Girls flooded and caused the mandatory evacuation order.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A mandatory evacuation has been issued near Balsam Road in Asheville.

The flooding of a lake with a dam at Camp Crestridge for Girls caused the mandatory evacuation order. The evacuation is in effect for 105 Balsam Road from the camp south to Highway 70 in Black Mountain. 

Evacuation shelters have been established at the WNC Agriculture Center in Fletcher, NC, and at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, NC.

Buncombe County said to make sure you are continuing to stay informed on weather updates and are avoiding flooded roads and areas prone to landslides.
