GREENSBORO, N.C. — You just felt the hottest air in Triad history for the month of October. Temperatures in the mid and upper 90s are smashing records all over North Carolina.
Here in the Triad, the temperature soared to 95 degrees Thursday afternoon. That ties for the hottest day in the month of October. It's happened just twice before: once on October 5th, 1954 and also on October 5th, 1919.
"This is just really impressive," says WFMY News 2 Chief Meteorologist Tim Buckley. "You have Raleigh hitting 100° today, 99° in Charlotte Wednesday, and 95° here in the Triad. This just doesn't happen in October."
Cooler air is on the way for the weekend. Highs will only be in the 60s on Saturday and 70s on Sunday.
