ARCHDALE, N.C. — UPDATE: Power was restored in Archdale.

Thousands are currently in the dark in Archdale.

According to the Duke Energy power outage map, approximately 2,500 people are without power in an area between Archdale Road and N.C. Highway 62.

Duke Energy grid specialist Jeff Brooks told WFMY News 2 that the power outage was caused after a downed tree broke a pole on the main power distribution line. He also said there's an estimated time of restoration around 7 p.m. but that it could be extended beyond that.

Duke Energy's outage map currently lists the estimated time of restoration as 11:59 p.m. on Friday.

Law enforcement reported flash flooding near the intersection of Sunny Ln. and Archdale Rd. in Archdale and reported several trees down in the town of Archdale.
