Strong winds and heavy rain leaves dozens in the dark

People in the Piedmont are experiencing power outages across the area.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Strong winds and heavy rain are tapering off for the Triad Monday evening. A 51 mph gust was reported at the airport in Greensboro around 7:30 p.m.

A wind advisory went into effect for our area, and the WFMY News 2 Weather Team advised bringing outdoor furniture inside and charging up electronic devices due to possible outages.

MONDAY, MARCH 7

Dozens are without power after a gust of high winds moved through the triad. The severe weather threat is over and overnight winds are going to feel like "normal winds"
