9:15 p.m. COVID-19 testing sites operating on delay

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist COVID testing sites at Lowe’s Park at River’s Edge in Wilkesboro and Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem will open at 11 a.m. Monday. The site at Providence Place in High Point will open as scheduled at 9 a.m.

6:21 p.m. Guilford County Schools on two-hour delay Monday. School officials said the delay was due to the possibility of icy road conditions early Monday morning.

6 p.m. Rockingham County Schools to operate on normal school schedule Monday.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 22, 2022

Greensboro Field Operations crews started salting and plowing primary roads in the city overnight. Moore says the second shift crew just arrived and will continue to both plow and spread salt throughout today and overnight.

Moore says they are trying to get as much of the snow off of the roads as possible while temperatures warm a little today and the sun is out before it refreezes overnight.

Moore says people may notice as they are plowing the snow, that it may be pushed into people’s driveways during the process. He is encouraging folks to get out today and clear their driveways while they can before we have a refreeze tonight.

7:45 p.m. State officials recommending people stay off roads due to hazardous road conditions.

“People should not attempt to drive in these conditions,” State Transportation Secretary J. Eric Boyette said. “Our crews are working around the clock to treat and clear roads as quickly as possible and we need everyone else to do their part and stay off the roads.”

Gov. Roy Cooper is urging North Carolinians to stay home due to hazardous roads and power outages in coastal counties.

Greensboro Department of Transportation's Nathaneal Moore said the second shift crew arrived just before 12 noon Saturday and will continue to both plow and spread salt throughout Saturday and into the night.

Moore said they are trying to get as much of the snow off of the roads as possible while temperatures warm a little Saturday and the sun is out before it refreezes Saturday night.

Officials said people may notice as they are plowing the snow, that it may be pushed into people’s driveways during the process. Moore is encouraging folks to get out Saturday and clear their driveways while they can before we have a refreeze Saturday night.

9 a.m. -- City cancellations and changes

The city of Greensboro is canceling Saturday waste collections. Friday routes will run Monday, the 24th. 

GTA will operate using snow routes/main streets. HEAT service begins at 1 p.m.

Several Greensboro library branches are closed

High Point Public Library and Museum will open at noon today. The transit system will not run.
