Did more than one tornado rip through the Triad?

Only one tornado was confirmed. There possibly were two tornadoes but we are waiting for the National Weather Service to confirm once they assess damage.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — So far, there has only been one confirmed tornado in Wilkes County, according to the National Weather Service.

An EF-1 tornado hit the area Thursday night near Moravian Falls, dissipating near Main Street.

Here is what we know:

How strong was the tornado?

The National Weather Service said the tornado was going 105-110 miles per hour and was only on the ground for 3 minutes.

How wide was the tornado?

The tornado was 300 yards wide and stretched for 2 miles.

Was anyone injured?

There were no reported injuries.

Was there a second tornado?

Phil Hysell, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the NWS, said after seeing a second wave of damage in the Rhonda area, they have to determine whether that was from a second tornado or not.
