Duke Energy gave us the following statement about power outages in Western North Carolina:
"Still a tremendous amount of damage in Western North Carolina and the upstate of South Carolina. We've made some progress today and as of this afternoon had restored about 380,000 customers, And I see more have been restored this evening. We're down to 1.2 million customers remaining without power. Of that about a million are in The mountains and foothills of Western North Carolina and the upstate of South Carolina. We currently have about 11,000 line and tree crews. Working to restore power and there are more crews on the way. We've been working to assess damage today and develop a response plan. Flooded roads and obstructed roads have created challenges getting access to certain areas. This will be a multi-day restoration and once we have estimated times of restoration for areas of our system, we will share that with customers. But a lot of work to do still."
