GREENSBORO, N.C. — The last several days have been eventful weather-wise with a few strong to severe thunderstorms earlier on this week and much-needed showers bringing around 3.34" so far for May! Shower and storm chances will decrease as a cold front officially passes early on Friday, with cooler and drier air moving into central NC.
Nice & Comfy Mother's Day Weekend
Cooler air is on the way, but the key to your comfort is really the humidity, and we have big changes in that department.
Dry air following the cold front will drop down points into the comfortable 40s for the weekend! Normally this time of year we're in the 60s or so.
Cool Mornings
Not only will it be comfortably dry, but temperatures are cooler behind the front. Average highs this time of year are in the deep 70s. We will struggle in the low-to-mid 70s despite plenty of sunshine. Winds may be a bit gusty at times up to 20-25 mph mainly Saturday.
Expect overnight lows in the cool upper 40s and lower 50s this weekend. Low-to-middle 70s with no rain chances will accompany any outdoor plans you have for Mother's Day weekend.
Across the State - Beach or Mountains?
Is mom a big fan of the beach, or does she prefer the mountains? Either way, we're in for great weather this weekend. Temperatures along the coast will be in the 70s each day with some cool mornings. The mountains will be cooler than that, as you'd expect. Both should stay dry most of the time.
Rain and storm chances will eventually return early next week.
