On Thursday, WFMY News 2 received reports of some type of flooding in nearly every county in the Piedmont Triad leading to road closures for numerous counties. It also resulted in a number of sinkholes in three counties.
With flooding, it's always important to keep safety top of mind.
FLOODING SAFETY
Remember to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” when it comes to flooded roads. Just six inches of moving water can knock you down and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away.
Make sure to stay off of bridges over fast-moving water.
On Thursday, a woman almost had to be rescued in Guilford County. According to fire crews the woman’s car got stuck in flood waters on North Church Street. She said the water was up to her window at one point but by the time emergency help arrived she was able to safely get out of the vehicle.
