Southern Piedmont counties hit with Florence flooding

Southern Piedmont counties including Davidson, Randolph, and Montgomery have seen a lot of flooding from Florence.

DENTON, N.C. -- Emergency Services Director, Larry James, said Davidson County is dealing with extreme flooding in Denton.

Since 5 p.m, he said they've responded to four vehicles trapped in water. Since 5 p.m. they’ve have about 50 reports of trees and wires down.

“Most of what we are seeing is from the Business 85 corridor and south,” he said. “We’ve got numerous roads flooded and basements flooded.”

In Randolph County, NC Highway 49 W in Asheboro is closed after a tree fell on the highway. The driver was able to walk away without injuries.
