Man dies while cleaning up debris caused by Helene in Wilkes County, EMS confirms

MORAVIAN FALLS, N.C. — A man is dead after an accident occurred while he was cleaning up debris caused by Hurricane Helene in Wilkes County on Oct. 22, according to Wilkes County Emergency Medical Services.

Michael Scroggs was reportedly using a chainsaw to cut a tree in Moravian Falls when a large tree root ball hit and killed him, EMS confirmed.
