NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle is using his private helicopter to help get supplies to Helene survivors in western North Carolina.
Biffle has been documenting his trips to the mountains on social media. He captured an incredible moment on video, showing a man flashing a mirror way down in a valley to get the attention of his chopper. It worked!
Biffle wrote on X, "The mirror that caught our attention well over a mile away only way we we were able to find someone stranded in the mountains at bottom of steep canyon. 6 attempts to land due to difficulty but we got there - got him a chainsaw, EpiPens, insulin, chicken food, formula, gas, 2 stroke oil, and sandwiches premade from Harris Teeter before we left."
Biffle is helping western North Carolina through his private operations but also alongside Operation Airdrop. NASCAR’s Martin Truex, Jr. has also helped with Operation Airdrop by supplying a fleet of planes.
