NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Governor Roy Cooper issued an order to help areas in Western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene by allowing state agencies to quickly donate extra resources, like equipment or supplies, to these areas.
The Executive Order makes it easier for government entities, schools, and nonprofits to receive this surplus property from the state without usual regulatory delays. This approach aims to speed up the process, providing essential items to help these organizations get back on their feet and continue their work despite the storm's damage.
"Hurricane Helene caused immense damage to property owned by state and local governments, schools, and nonprofits," Cooper said. "This Executive Order helps get them replacement property quickly and efficiently so they can continue with their missions."
State agencies, local governments, public schools, and nonprofits in Western North Carolina have lost property because of the storm. Fortunately, many state agencies have extra resources that could really help speed up recovery efforts.
