Buncombe County honors students lost to Helene with a magical challenge

The two boys were known for liking superheroes and fantasy.

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. — Buncombe County Schools honored two brothers who died in Helene floodwaters.

Seven-year-old Lucas and 9-year-old Felix Wisely, their mom and her fiance died when they got swept away in their car.

North Buncombe Elementary School coined Wednesday, Oct. 16 "Wisely Wednesday" and asked people across the district to honor the little boys.

Specifically, to read something magical like Felix liked to do and to dress like a superhero, like Lucas always did.
