Benefit concert at Tanger Center raises nearly $40K for western North Carolina

Organizers from the event said the benefit concert raised nearly $40,000 for western North Carolina.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Update: Organizers from the event said the benefit concert raised nearly $40,000 for western North Carolina.

The North Carolina Folk Festival announced Friday they are hosting a benefit concert for western North Carolina at the Steven Tanger Center for Performing Arts in Greensboro on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. and will feature two Americana and Bluegrass bands from western North Carolina.

Steep Canyon Rangers, from Brevard, have released 14 studio albums and were inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. The band are three-time Grammy nominees.

Holler Choir, from Asheville, is led by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Clint Roberts and played at the North Carolina Folk Festival back in September.

All 100% of the net proceeds from the concert will be donated to the NC Arts Foundation Disaster Relief Fund.

The idea for the concert came after musicians in North Carolina reached out to festival organizers asking what they could do to help with relief efforts as many communities in western North Carolina continue to recover from Helene.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
