GREENSBORO, N.C. — Hottest temperatures lead the forecast this week. Monday is kicking off the week with temperatures soaring well into the 90s. Humidity also isn't giving much relief. It is muggy outside. The heat and humidity are forcing it to feel like 100°. A heat advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Alamance county with the eastern county reaching heat index values greater than 105°. An Excessive Heat Watch continues through Tuesday with the same weather sticking with us for tomorrow. The uncomfortable conditions will lead the forecast through Friday. A strong Bermuda high won't allow for much relief. Temperatures this warm are a rarity for Greensboro in June.

Back in 2012, the highest temperature in the month of June was 102°, but that was over 10 years ago. Since then, temperatures have barely escaped the low 90s throughout the month. Last year, the hottest temperature in June was 92°. So far this month, we've gotten as warm as 91°, which was this past Sunday, June 12. Folks in the Central Piedmont aren't the only ones bracing for a dangerous heat wave. It is blazing across the Southern and Central Plains, as well as, the Mississippi, and Ohio Valley! Record-setting heat is likely on Monday. Tuesday is likely to be even hotter with temperatures just barely hitting 100°. Awareness is the first step, but next up implement safety measures throughout your every day including drinking water and staying in cool spots! Water is the best way to hydrate your body, unfortunately, sugary drinks can further dehydrate you.
