North Myrtle Beach vacationers undeterred by Debby rain

WFMY News 2 spoke with two couples who said the tropical storm wouldn't stop them from enjoying a getaway.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — 'A day at the beach' has a different feel to it along the Carolina coast this week.

Outer rain bands from Tropical Storm Debby have thinned out the crowds at North Myrtle Beach, SC.

John and Dawn are visiting from Summerville near Charleston - celebrating their 33 wedding anniversary.

"As long as we're spending time together, inside, outside, doing stuff inside, we're good," John said.

Stanley and Lolita are visiting from Charlotte for a much-anticipated birthday trip for Lolita.

They said they're taking the storm in stride.

"I hope this won't be my last birthday," said Lolita.

They were hoping the rain would last just a day. Lolita wasn't happy when WFMY News 2's Chad Silber told her otherwise.

"For real? Well, I'm gonna have to get two big bottles of wine." Lolita laughed.

She said they'll still enjoy themselves - no matter the weather.

Because as they say, a rainy day at the beach - is still a day at the beach.
