Flight attendant injured as Haiti-bound Spirit Airlines flight damaged by gunfire

A Spirit Airlines flight bound for Haiti was struck by gunfire.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A flight attendant was injured Monday after a Spirit Airlines flight from Florida was struck by gunfire on its way to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, according to CBS News.

Spirit Airlines Flight 951 took off from Fort-Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Monday. It was ultimately diverted to Cibao International Airport in the Dominican Republic, where it landed safely.

According to CBS News, a flight attendants union confirmed that a flight attendant suffered minor injuries from "debris" during the incident. Spirit said no passengers were injured.

No other information has been provided at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
