GREENSBORO, N.C. — A woman is dead after being hit by a car following a crash on I-40 in Greensboro, police say.

On Wednesday, officers responded to the I-40 East near West Wendover Avenue just after 9:20 p.m.

A 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV driven by Krystal Paula Pearson, 30, was stopped for an unknown reason in the eastbound lane of I-40. A 2019 Ford Transit van driven by Joshua Rodriguez, 23, was driving in the same lane, approaching Pearson's car.

Rodriguez swerved to the left but still collided with Pearson's car. Another car hit Pearson's car and at some point, she got out of her car and was hit by a car.

Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene by Guilford County EMS.

All of the drivers involved in this crash were not hurt, police say.

Impairment is not considered to be a factor in this crash.
