Woman injured after her car ran off the road on I-73 S in Randolph Co. is facing charges, troopers say

North Carolina Highway State Patrol said a woman ran off the road and suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash where troopers charged her.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A woman is facing charges after a single-vehicle crash in Randolph County Tuesday, according to troopers.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol received a call about a crash on I-73 southbound near mile marker 80 in Randolph County.

Troopers said 29-year-old Abrianna Nicole Elliott of Asheboro was traveling south on I-73 driving a 2022 Volkswagen. Troopers said Elliott traveled off the road to the right, and up an embankment before returning to the roadway. Elliott then traveled off the road to the left, striking a guardrail in the median, according to troopers.

Investigators said Elliott suffered minor injuries and was transported to Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

Investigators also said they are unsure what caused Elliott to lose control of her vehicle. Elliott was charged with failure to maintain lane control, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

One lane on I-73 southbound was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation.

Troopers cleared the scene at 8:55 p.m.
