Moped driver dies after crash; suspect charged, Greensboro police say

Greensboro police said 29-year-old Darius Glasper faces multiple charges, including death by motor vehicle and felony hit and run after a man was killed in a crash.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is dead after a crash on West Wendover Avenue Thursday, according to Greensboro police. 

It happened at the intersection of Benjamin Parkway around 5:52 a.m., according to police.

Officers said 66-year-old Harry Mack Junior was driving a moped west on Wendover Avenue when he was hit by a black sedan that left the scene.

Police said he later died from his injuries.

Detectives say shortly after the crash, patrol officers found a 2003 black Honda Accord in the area of Green Valley Road and Northline Avenue and began investigating. 

Investigators determined that 29-year-old Darius Glasper was the driver that hit Junior.

Glasper has been charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle, Felony Hit, and Run, Driving While License Revoked, and Failure to Reduce Speed.

Crash Reconstruction responded and is investigating.

West Wendover Avenue has since reopened Thursday afternoon after the wreck between Westover Terrace and Benjamin Parkway, according to Greensboro police.
