WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — We’re learning more about a Winston-Salem wreck that shut down part of I-40 west for hours overnight Thursday. Two people died. A child and another person were hospitalized.

It happened late Wednesday night at the Stratford Road exit.

Highway Patrol said 31-year-old Ashley Wilson was in a Kia driving east in the westbound lane and hit a Toyota SUV head-on.

Troopers said a Nissan then struck the Toyota, killing the Toyota driver, 43-year-old Alicia Dye, at the scene. EMS transported a child passenger in the Toyota to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The suspected wrong-way driver also died at the scene.

The Nissan driver, Tremaine Brown, is also at the hospital with serious injuries.
