THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A husband and wife are dead after a crash on US 29 in Thomasville, according to police.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m. Tuesday. Officers responded to the intersection of US 29 North and Kanoy Road in reference to a crash involving two cars.
A Buick Regal was traveling south on Kanoy Road trying to cross all lanes of travel for US 29. A Honda Accord was traveling east on US 29. Both cars collided in the eastbound lanes of US 29.
The driver of the Honda Accord, Tavon Donell Lanier, 46, was taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the Buick Regal, Gary Hicks, 74, and passenger Sarah Hicks, 71, were husband and wife. Mr. Hicks was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. Mrs. Hicks died at the scene.
This investigation is ongoing.
