Greensboro police a woman died in a crash where a Lexus was driving at a high rate of speed down W. Gate City Boulevard.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A woman died after an early morning crash on West Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro Wednesday.

It was a single-car crash that happened at the intersection of Merrit Drive around 4:00 a.m., according to Greensboro police.

Officers said 25-year-old Breanna Johnson and 31-year-old Antwon Meadows were passengers inside a 2008 Lexus GS350 that was speeding down West Gate City Boulevard before it went off the roadway and hit two utility poles. The Lexus overturned and Johnson and Meadows were thrown from the vehicle.

Johnson did not survive.

Greensboro police said, "it is not clear who the driver is at this time".

When WFMY News 2 spoke with police earlier, they said the third person in the backseat is okay and another person was seriously injured.

The Greensboro Crash Reconstruction Unit responded and the investigation is ongoing.
