Fallen tree causes power outage on Battleground Avenue in Greensboro

Greensboro police said a tree fell on power lines causing a power outage.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police said the 3900 block of Battleground Avenue is closed after a tree fell on power lines in the area. They said there was no crash in the area. 

According to Duke Energy, there were more than 7,000 customers without power at one point. Power should be restored in the area around 5:30 p.m. 

At least one traffic light is working near the Old Battleground and Lake Brandt intersection. 

Drivers are asked to avoid this area until further notice.
