Child dies after being hit by car on West Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro: Police

Two adult pedestrians were also injured.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A child has died after a vehicle crash on West Gate City Boulevard on Friday, Nov. 1, according to Guilford County EMS. 

According to the Greensboro Police Department, the crash involved two vehicles and three pedestrians. Investigators said a Hyundai Elantra was traveling east on West Gate City Boulevard when it hit a person and a child who were trying to cross the road.

Officers say another pedestrian was hit by a Nissan Altima when they tried to enter the roadway to warn traffic about the incident. The drivers of the cars were both uninjured, but the two adult pedestrians were transported to local hospitals and the child died at the scene from their injuries.

The GPD is currently investigating the crash. No charges have been filed.

The Greensboro Police Department said all lanes of West Gate City Boulevard between Holden Road and Paschal Street were temporarily closed. 

All lanes of West Gate City Boulevard are now back open.
