LEXINGTON, N.C. — A Lexington man faces charges in a crash that killed two people on I-85 Thursday.

Troopers said the crash happened at 3 a.m. on I-85 South, just after the Highway 64 exit. They said a pickup truck didn't slow down and crashed into the back of another truck with a trailer. The truck with the trailer went off the highway, overturned, and hit a tree. The two men inside, Alan Wendell Sanderson and Mark Hughes, of Mooresville, died at the scene.

Highway Patrol said the driver of the other truck, Jerry Dan Surratt II, of Lexington, went to a local hospital with serious injuries. He's been charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, driving while license revoked, and failure to reduce speed.
