SUMMERFIELD, N.C. —
(UPDATE: The bridge reopened today following an N.C. Department of Transportation crew's repair of corroded beams.)
A bridge in Summerfield is closed indefinitely starting Friday.
Crews from the North Carolina Department of Transportation inspected the bridge on Lake Brandt Road, that crosses over Haw River this week. After their inspection, the bridge was shut down until further notice.
The NCDOT crew will revisit the bridge again next week for further inspection.
Drivers should avoid the bridge and take detours along Witty Road, Scalesville Road, and U.S. 158 .
