KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Update: Gas leak repaired. The road will remain closed through the night.
Mind the roads during your lunch break, folks.
The Town of Kernersville posted on its Facebook page that a gas line was struck by crews working on a sewer on the 800 block of South Main Street.
South Main Street's southbound lane is closed between Old Winston Road and Salem Parkway for emergency repairs.
Kernersville Fire Department is on the scene and will stay there as the gas company tries to get access to the damaged gas line.
Traffic is being diverted and drivers are encouraged to plan for alternate routes.
That section of road is expected to be closed for several hours while crews work to repair the gas line, the Town of Kernersville writes.
