WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — UPDATE (8 p.m.): The road has reopened.

Interstate 74 (Highway 311) North at Ridgewood Road in Winston-Salem has been shut down by a traffic accident, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Police said, as of 7 p.m., that they expect the interstate to be closed for approximately two hours. There was no information given about possible injuries.
The Winston-Salem Police Department strongly encourages motorists to choose an alternate route of travel. If you are unfamiliar with the area, utilize GPS or other navigation apps responsibly while driving.
