Greensboro man killed in crash on I-40 near Bridford Parkway: Police

An 85-year-old man died at the scene. The driver of the other car was not injured.

A 71-year-old man was killed Friday after a crash in Wilkes County.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man died Sunday after a collision between two vehicles on Interstate 40 West near Bridford Parkway, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

According to the police, Charles William Zeigler, 85, was driving a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer on I-40 West when he attempted to pass a 2012 Hyundai Accent, driven by 20-year-old Hannah Marie Bryant.

While attempting the pass, police say the Trailblazer sideswiped the Accent before running off the road to the right and overturning several times.

Zeigler was pronounced dead at the scene. Bryant was not injured in the crash.

The Greensboro Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the accident and will conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.
