GREENSBORO, N.C. — A crash resulting in serious injuries happened on I-73 at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, state troopers report.

According to troopers, Jesse Stuart Poly, 32, was driving south on I-73 in a Ford truck. Poly traveled left and right off road before striking a guardrail.

Poly continued south and struck a concrete bridge railing on the NC 62 overpass and came to rest in the middle of I-73 south, according to troopers.

Poly was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle during the crash, said troopers.

He was taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Troopers report that Poly is in serious, but stable condition.

Troopers report they believe speed and impairment were contributing factors to the crash.

The crash closed all southbound lanes of I-73 for four hours due to investigation. Troopers cleared the scene at 4:05 p.m.

Charges are pending.
