GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police have charged 24-year-old Carina Espinoza by citation for a stop sign violation and a suspended license. She is still in the hospital with serious injuries.
Officers do not believe speed and impairment play a part in this crash.
Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) released a statement Tuesday after one of its buses was involved in a crash Monday evening.
Greensboro police got the call about the crash at around 6 p.m.
GTA said according to video obtained from the bus, a Kia Sedan failed to stop and was pushed by the bus into the pole causing power outages that forced Cypress Street, Yanceyville Street, and the immediate intersections to close.
The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was taken from the scene for treatment.
There were five people on the bus, along with the operator who did not suffer any serious injuries. One passenger received a checkup as a precaution.
Greensboro police have not filed any charges at this time.
A picture sent to WFMY from a viewer shows damage to a utility pole, the shattered windshield of a GTA bus, and a car on its side.
